Feel free to just relax and do nothing.

But if you are so inclined, there are 23 miles of beach to walk, three sets of tennis courts in the Plantation, great bicycling with several miles of paved trails, shell hunting, exploring a nearby uninhabited island, etc.  The mainland north of the island is crisscrossed with many streams and rivers providing some of the most interesting flat-water canoeing and kayaking anywhere.  Canoes, kayaks, bicycles, and motor scooters can be rented on the island (motor scooters cannot be taken into the Plantation).

Of course, there is sunning or swimming at the beach, at your private pool, or at the Plantation's community pool.

Golf courses are available at:

About one hour away is Wakulla Springs State Park.  The cult film “Creature from the Black Lagoon” and several old Tarzan movies starring Johnny Weissmuller were filmed here.  Both lagoon and river tours are offered.  If you have time for only one tour, we recommend the river tour to see alligators, snakes, many species of birds, and some fantastic scenery.  Wakulla Springs, Florida    Phone: 850-926-0700

Nearby on the mainland are two small fishing villages, Apalachicola and Eastpoint.

Many celebrities, like Jimmy Buffet, have come here for fishing trips.  Various boat tours can also be arranged.  There are excellent, fun, casual restaurants in the area, many outstanding for seafood.  Apalachicola has interesting historical buildings, great small shops, a cemetery dating to the civil war, a wonderful boardwalk (Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve) through Florida’s “jungle”, and a couple of small nice parks for your dog walks.

Apalachicola has a delightful, nearly 100 year old professional theatre hosting numerous plays and concerts.  Click the link for more information on the Dixie Theatre.    http://www.dixietheatre.com/

Several different free state-sponsored field trips are available in the area:

This is a fisherman's paradise.  There is beach fishing, ocean fishing, bay fishing, and river fishing.

A Bay To Remember has a fish cleaning station under the house.

If you have not found enough to do yet - Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, and Panama City are both about 1 ½ hours away by scenic roads.  Both cities offer a large variety of activities.
